Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) announced today that it will spend about $ 400 million to establish a new chip research and engineering center in India.
The center will be located in India’s main technical hub, Bankarore, and will become AMD’s largest chip design facilities. It is reported that the center will recruit about 3,000 engineers, cover an area of 500,000 square feet, and provide "extensive" laboratory facilities. The chip manufacturer AMD plans to use the center by the end of this year.Lucknow Stock
AMD is a semiconductor company in a fab, that is, the main chip design and relying on external manufacturers to make chips.AMD’s engineers are almost dedicated to the design tasks, software development and related work of the processor.AMD split its chip manufacturing business in 2009, becoming the current GlobalFoundries Inc.
AMD’s Bangalore New Center is expected to have 3,000 engineers, which will increase AMD’s total number of employees in India to more than 9,000.These employees work in 10 offices in five non -financial markets (Bangalore, Delhi, Gulga, Heidraba and Mencius).AMD opened the first office in India more than 20 years ago.Surat Wealth Management
AMD chief technical officer Mark Papermaster said, "AMD increased from several employees in India in 2001 to more than 6,500 employees today. Our development is based on the solid foundation and high -skilled talent pool established by our local leadership."
AMD expanded employees more than a year ago, and planned to expand 3,000 engineers on a large scale again this time.AMD completed the acquisition of Xilinx Inc. for $ 50 billion in February last year and received about 4,800 employees.Sailingz Company is a chip manufacturer of a fab. It mainly develops a processor named FPGAPune Wealth Management. The FPGA processor can perform specific computing tasks by configured efficiently.
AMD is not the only large chip manufacturer to expand its business in India.Earlier this year, Micron Inc., a memory supplier, announced that it plans to build two new chip factories in Gujarat, which costs up to $ 2.85 billion.
Micron is expected to be put into use at the end of 2024.The first factory will include a clean room space of 500,000 square feet, which is specially used for assembly and test memory chips.Micron said that the construction of the second factory will begin in the second half of this century, similar to the "scale" of the first factory.
Just as the chip manufacturer Miguang announced the same month, the Applied Materials Inc. announced an investment plan for the construction of an engineering center worth $ 400 million in Bangalol.Application material companies mainly produce semiconductor manufacturing equipment, while Micron and many other chip manufacturers use these equipment. After the new facilities of the application material company are fully put into operation in Bangalore, at least 500 engineers will work in the new central center.
